Returns & Refunds Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Overview
This policy explains when a vehicle bought from Status Motor Group can be returned and how refunds work. It reflects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and, for purchases made at a distance, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Nothing in this policy reduces or replaces your statutory rights.
2. Buying at a distance — 14-day cooling-off period
If you buy a vehicle without visiting the showroom (for example ordering by phone or online with nationwide delivery), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the day after the vehicle is delivered, without giving a reason. To cancel, tell us in writing within that period (email is fine). The vehicle must be returned to us in the condition it was delivered in, and you are responsible for the cost of returning it (or we can arrange collection and deduct the reasonable cost from your refund). We may reduce the refund to reflect any use of the vehicle or damage beyond what is needed to inspect it — mileage added after delivery is treated as use. We will refund you within 14 days of the vehicle being returned to us.
The cooling-off period does not apply to vehicles bought and collected in person after viewing at the showroom, or to purchases made in the course of a business.
3. Faulty vehicles — your Consumer Rights Act protections
Every vehicle we sell must be of satisfactory quality (allowing for its age, mileage and price), fit for purpose and as described. If a fault that breaches those standards was present at the point of sale:
- Within 30 days — you may reject the vehicle for a full refund.
- After 30 days and within 6 months — we get one opportunity to repair or replace. If that does not resolve the fault, you may keep the vehicle with a price reduction or reject it for a refund (which may reflect fair use).
These rights apply however you bought the vehicle — at the showroom or at a distance.
4. What is not covered
Fair wear and tear appropriate to the vehicle’s age and mileage; serviceable and wear items (such as tyres, brake pads, wiper blades and bulbs) unless defective at the point of sale; faults or cosmetic issues specifically pointed out to you before purchase; damage caused after handover; and faults arising from misuse, neglect or unauthorised modification.
5. How to start a return
Contact us as soon as possible with your name, the vehicle registration and the reason for the return: by email at sales@statusmotorgroup.com, by phone on 020 4552 8621, or in person at Unit 1 Bridge Connections, Ferry Lane, Rainham, RM13 9YH. We will confirm the next steps, including inspection and — where applicable — collection arrangements. Refunds are made to the original payment method. Where a vehicle was purchased with finance, any refund is settled with the finance provider first.
