We're looking for a skilled Master Mechanic to lead the spanner work in our workshop.
You'll be preparing our used cars for sale — diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and services, prepping for MOT, and signing cars off as retail-ready. We turn stock around quickly, so we need someone who is fast but thorough, works cleanly, and takes pride in never letting a car leave that they wouldn't put their own name to.
You'll see everything from a city runabout to a prestige German saloon, so broad experience and confident diagnostics matter. This is a hands-on role with genuine responsibility for what goes out on the forecourt.
What you'll do
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults across a wide range of makes
- Service, repair and prepare used cars to retail standard
- Prep vehicles for MOT and rectify advisories/failures
- Road-test cars before and after work to confirm the fix
- Keep accurate records of work done and parts used
- Flag anything that affects whether a car is safe or worth retailing
- Keep the workshop clean, safe and organised
What we're looking for
- Time-served / qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience)
- Strong diagnostic skills — confident with fault-finding, not just parts-swapping
- Experience across multiple makes, including modern electronics
- Own tools
- Full UK driving licence
- MOT tester qualification is a strong plus
- Methodical, honest and takes pride in the work
